Arriving on Monday evening, the storm clouds were brewing and there was a chill in the air. Inside Parr Green Hall, however, it was more than warm enough, and it wasn’t just emanating from the Aga. Friendly faces and sparky conversation ignite the atmosphere. Being around other writers always creates mixed feelings; excitement, anxiety, interest, intrigue, differences of opinion, but also the reassuring knowledge that we are all there for a shared purpose – to improve on what we love doing, and insight into the things we find most important. Good writing. And as we sat down for our first supper, there was a rising feeling (for myself, at least), that this was going to be a great week for it.
